Kyle Manzardo and the Guardians lost to Ian Hamilton and the New York Yankees 4-1, and the Yankees advance to their first World Series since 2009. The series was closer than the final score shows, as both teams battled to win the American League.
Â
Manzardo played nine of the ten games the Guardians played in the postseason. He went 6 for 19 with two runs scored and two RBIs. This included a two-run home run in Game 3 of the ALCS, in which he also got another hit, going two for three. Manzardo also recorded a double in game 4 of the ALCS and a single in game 5. This was Manzardo's first playoff run and will look to add more to his resume in the coming years.
Â
Hamilton saw action in game 3 of the ALCS before being replaced due to an injury. His status is unknown for the remainder of the postseason. The Yankees will open play in Los Angeles for game 1 of the World Series, Friday, October 25.
