Women's Golf inks its first two signees for the 2023-24 season

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State Women's Golf Head Coach Sofie Aagaard announced the first two signees of her 2023 signing class Thursday, Feb. 2, as Alice Johansson and Sara Piñeros both inked their National Letter of Intent to play for the Cougars starting in the 2023-24 season.
Alice Johansson | 5-4 | Bollnäs, Sweden (Celsiusskolan National School of Golf)
Johansson comes to the Palouse from Bollnäs, Sweden, where she attended Celsiusskolan National School of Golf in Uppsala. Johansson brings a heap of top-level international experience to the Palouse, as she has played with the Swedish National Women's Golf Team and has played for the Gävle Golf Club.
The newest Coug has won four tournaments during her prep career, with the most recent victory coming at the 2022 JMI Täby Svea Leasing Junior Open with scores of 72-73; 145. She also won the 2021 Angso International Junior Masters Invitational with a score of 70-73-73; 216. Johansson also captured the title at the 2021 Teen Tour Future #3 Uppland. Her career-best round score is 4-under; 68. Johansson's stroke average during her prep career is 74.56.
Johansson is the daughter of Tommy Johansson and Katrin Andersson and she was born on born on Sept. 7. She has two siblings, one older sister Isabelle and one younger brother Edwin. Johansson enjoys downhill skiing and playing hockey in her free time.

"Alice stood out to us in recruiting early on as she is a powerful golfer, she has great distance in her long game, and is a fiery competitor. A former competitive downhill skier, she is physically strong, has a great work ethic, and is mentally disciplined in her training and competition. She has trained with the Swedish Golf National Team and comes to Pullman with great knowledge of her own game as well as extensive experience in competition in both Sweden and across Europe." Sara Piñeros | 5-3 | Bogotá, Colombia (Gimansio Fontana HS)
Piñeros joins the Cougs from Bogotá, Colombia, where she attends Gimansio Fontana. Piñeros also attended Westlake Preparatory and Academy in Hollywood, Florida during her junior season, where she was named team captain and guided her team to the Florida State Tournament.
The newest WSU women's golfer brings plenty of international playing experience to the roster. Piñeros has been competing internationally since she was 13 years old, competing in the IMG Academy Junior World Championships at Torrey Pines in San Diego. She posted five top-five finishes in 2022 on the international circuit, with her best finish coming at the Medalist Tour - Crane Watch in Palm City, Florida, where she finished second with a score of 79-73; 152. Piñeros also finished third at the 2022 Aniversario de Golf in Bogotá, with scores of 72-74-70; 216. She also finished 11th overall at the Amundi Evian Senior Showcase in December 2022 with scores of 74-73.
Piñeros is the daughter of Mauricio Piñeros and Sandra Restrepo and was born on Jan. 18 in Bogotá, Colombia. She intends to major in Engineering. Piñeros also competes in track and field at Westlake Prep.

Sara is a finesse player with a strong short game and putting, benefiting her in scoring and making her a consistent competitor. Her love for the game of golf, motivation and great work ethic has contributed to her great growth as a golfer over the past few years.
