SEATTLELouie Hinchliffe lowered his freshman record during prelims of the men's 60m dash at 6.69 and dropped the record a second time with a 6.60 to place second on the podium as Washington State men's and women's indoor track and field wrapped up the indoor season Saturday. The Cougars' indoor track and field teams closed the book on the final day of the Ken Shannon Last Chance Invite in Dempsey Indoor facility with a trio of top-ten program marks.

Qualifying student-athletes will look ahead to the indoor national championships to Albuquerque, New Mexico while the remainder of the Washington State roster will set its sights on the 2023 outdoor circuit.

Skyler Walton (7.48) placed 10th in the women's 60m dash to lead a strong showing from the Washington State women's sprints group. She was followed in the results list by teammates , Elise Unruh-Thomas (7.53, 13th), Gilana Wollman (7.68, 21st) and Ashley Hollenbeck (7.80, 26th) who each posted personal-best times in the 60m during prelims.

Men's Recap:
Louie Hinchliffe rewrote the record books twice on day two of the final indoor meet of the season, finishing his day tied for the second-fastest 60m time (6.60) in WSU history set by Augustin Olobia in 1991. The freshman lowered the program record he owned going into the day with a 6.69 prelims time before narrowly missing the finals win by just .01 with a 6.60 time that surpassed the previous meet record by .06.

The Sheffield native's 6.60 is the fastest time at WSU since Ray Ray Wells Jr in 2019 and is also tied for the 17th-fastest time in the country this season, a massive jump from Hinchliffe's No. 73 60m ranking last week. Mason Lawyer (6.74) tied his personal best time in the finals of the 60m dash to round out the top five for the talented 60m duo.

Lee Walburn (5298 points) moved up the Cougar record book for a second straight meet with a complete heptathlon program, moving into fourth all-time as he reached the highest point total at WSU since 2016.
Next Up:
Qualifying student-athletes will see a one-week break from competition leading into the 2023 NCAA Division Indoor Track and Field Championships which are slated for Mar. 10-11 from the Albuquerque Convention Center.
