BOULDER, Colo. – Washington State volleyball put on a dominate showing on the road against the Buffaloes of Colorado Thursday evening with a 3-0 victory. Senior
Alexis Dirige reached the top of the mountain in this contest, as she became WSU volleyball's all-time career digs leader with 1,955 total.
Set scores from the match were: 25-17, 25-23, and 25-17 in favor of WSU (17-4, 6-3 Pac-12).
The Cougars and the Buffaloes of Colorado (8-11, 0-9 Pac-12) were locked in a tight battle early on inside the CU Events Center, as six total ties occurred, leading up to a 12-12 overall score. WSU found some rhythm soon after as a 6-0 scoring run, shot the Cougars out to a 17-12 advantage. Four total blocks were recorded by Washington State during this run, with
Magda Jehlářová, and
Alexcis Lusby helping create them all in one way or another. WSU generated yet another six point run, and ultimately claimed set number one after back-to-back aces from
Jocelyn Urias at 25-17.
Washington State picked right up where they left off in set one, opening the second set with a 4-1 run, fueled by multiple
Penny Tusa kills. The Cougars continued to put together small scoring runs leading to the midway point of the set, as
Pia Timmer and Urias each posted kills to see WSU up at 17-10. The Buffs began to fight back however as a 6-0 run put the home squad down just one point at 17-16. These two programs began trading points late into the second period of action, until multiple kills from Tusa, and an additional kill from Lusby put the Cougars ahead at 24-21. Despite two quick points from Colorado, Urias put an end to any Buffalo comeback with a thunderous kill for the 25-23 victory.
WSU dominance was the theme for set three, jumping out to an early 10-4 lead over Colorado, with some help from a
Hannah Pukis and Jehlářová block, and multiple Tusa kills. That Cougar lead only continued to grow after a 7-1 run from WSU with kills from Urias, Timmer, and Pukis to continue fueling the Crimson and Gray. Washington State was in total control of this final set throughout its' entirety, finishing off Colorado with two blocks from
Mykayla Myers and Pukis for the road sweep.

Alexis Dirige posted eight total digs on the night, putting her career total currently at 1,955. Alexis is now the all-time Washington State volleyball career digs leader, passing Kate Sommer (2012-15) on the all-time career list.

- Jocelyn Urias moves into 10th all-time in Washington State volleyball history in career block assists as she totaled three on the night. She currently stands at 330 for her career, and passed Keren Oigman (1994-97) also.
- Alexis Dirige moves into a tie for 10th all-time in WSU volleyball history in career aces at 87 overall. Dirige is now tied with Sarah Silvernail (1993-96).
- Penny Tusa, and Pia Timmer each posted 11 kills on the evening to lead the offensive attack.
- Hannah Pukis stuffed the stat sheet tonight with 36 assists, eight digs, six blocks, and two kills on the evening as well.
- Washington State will continue the road trip to Salt Lake City next as the Cougars take on Utah in a Pac-12 match, Sunday, Oct. 27 with first serve set for 12:00 p.m. (PT).
