Cougars Finish Spring Season 6-0
April 30, 2026 | Volleyball
PULLMAN, Wash. – (April 29, 2026) – Washington State women's volleyball concluded its 6-match spring schedule this weekend with a 3-0 win over Idaho on Saturday to seal a perfect 6-0 spring.
"Spring gave us a valuable window to develop individually while laying the foundation for our team systems—and we made the most of it," said Head Coach Korey Schroeder. "Having a larger roster this semester created a competitive training environment that pushed everyone forward. Even with limited match opportunities, our players embraced every chance to compete, and there's real momentum and excitement as we look ahead to getting back in the gym together in August."
Saturday, March 7 at Idaho – W, 4-1
Everyone got an opportunity to play in the spring opener for the Cougars, in which the team hit at a strong clip against Idaho. The teams opted to play all five sets, with WSU winning each of the first four, dropping only a close fifth set, 16-14. Several strong practices leading up to the match helped the Cougars play well in their first performance together thanks to strong competition and individual growth.
Friday, March 27 vs. Montana in Spokane – W, 3-1
WSU played Montana in front of a local crowd of about 1,300 at Lewis & Clark High School in Spokane, Wash. The Cougs were backed by a great atmosphere and experience in their 3-1 victory, winning the first two sets, and then sealing the win in the fourth. The Cougars played well, and although they had some opportunities down the stretch to really pull away, the team found ways when they needed to, made proper adjustments, and got better as the match went on.
Saturday, April 11 – W, 2-0 vs. LCSC | W, 2-0 vs. Whitman College | W, 2-0 vs. Eastern Oregon
The Cougs played a solid day of volleyball, sweeping a trio of two-set matches throughout the afternoon with wins over Lewis Clark State College, Whitman College, and Eastern Oregon. WSU took advantage of opportunities to pull away, applied service pressure across the board, and won on the serve and pass.
The winning day came on the heels of a wonderful meet-and-greet event the night before at Armstrong Winery in Walla Walla, Wash. The Cougar Volleyball program hosted nearly 40 people and had the opportunity to mingle with supporters all over the region.
Saturday, April 25 vs. Idaho – W, 3-0
WSU wrapped up the spring schedule with a clean 3-0 sweep of Idaho on Saturday with impactful performances all around. Although the team was playing with a limited roster, the depth of the Cougar squad stepped up, made plays, and showed strong effort and attitude. After winning a close pair of opening sets against the Vandals, the Cougars poured it on in the third to walk away with the sweep.
