Women's Golf Set to Compete in Westbrook Invitational

THIS WEEK: The Washington State women's golf team heads to Peoria, Ariz., to compete at the Westbrook Spring Invitational, Sunday through Monday, Feb. 25-26. Teams will play three rounds over the two days.
THE TOURNAMENT: The Westbrook Spring Invitational is hosted by the University of Wisconsin. The Westbrook Village Golf Course is a par-72, and teams will play 6,269-yards. The first round begins Sunday with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. PT/8:30 a.m. MT., and the second round will immediately follow. The final round will also begin with a at 7:30 a.m. PT/8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
THE FIELD: 15 teams including WSU make up the field of the event. Teams include Wisconsin, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Oregon State, UC Davis, and Washington State.
REPRESENTING WASHINGTON STATE: Competing for the Cougar women will be seniors Alivia Brown and Bree Wanderschied, junior Madison Odiorne, sophomore Marie Lund-Hansen, and redshirt freshman Emily Baumgart.
LAST TIME AT THE WESTBROOK INVITATIONAL: The Cougars tied with Notre Dame for ninth place, both with a three round score of 884(+20). Senior Bree Wanderschied tied for 21st place, going just two over par with a 218. Finishing one stroke behind her was junior Marie Lund-Hansen who finished tied for 23rd with a 219(+3).
LAST TIME ON THE GREEN: WSU brought home the win from their first spring event in Las Vegas. The Cougars competed in a dual style match against the University of Oregon, and won the first playoff hole to win the match. The Cougars earned three points and held the Ducks to two on the second day of the dual, resulting in a tie with both teams having a two-day total of four total points. The tie sent the teams to the sudden death playoff, where the Cougars scored an even par to win, with the Ducks going 1 over.
COACHING STAFF: The team is led by ninth-year head coach Kelli Kamimura, who led the women's golf team to a conference-championship team record for the lowest three-round and single-round totals at the 2016 Pac-12 Championships…WSU alumna Emma Betland is entering her third season as assistant coach…Betland golfed at WSU from 2010-2013.
