STANFORD, CALIF. – The Washington State women's golf team sits in 16th place after round one of play at the Stanford Intercollegiate hosted by Condoleezza Rice. The Cougars sit ahead of Oklahoma State after carding a 304(+20) through the first day on the green. Iowa State is just ahead of WSU, having scored a 17-over, 301, on the course.
Senior
Madison Odiorne led the way for the Cougars on the first day, having posted a one-over, 71, on the 6,171-yard course. The Bend, Ore. native garnered three birdies on the day and averaged a three-under on a par-five. Odiorne is tied for 20th with fellow Pac-12 members Marianna Li (California) and Julianna Alvarez (Washington).
Junior
Marie Lund-Hansen carded a 75(+4) after the first round after going even on a par-five and one-over on par-three. Freshman
Amy Chu completed the day with a 76(+5) after scoring even on par-three and par-five.
Elodie Bridenne and
Emily Baumgart carded an 81(+10) and 87(+16), respectively.
Individually, Odiorne and the Cougars will try to chase down Albane Valenzuela (Stanford), No. 31 Hira Naveed (Pepperdine), Clare Legaspi (UCLA), No. 71 Alyaa Abdulghany (USC), and No. 7 Malia Nam (USC) who all posted a 67(-4).
As a team, No. 3 USC leads the tournament with a twelve-under, 272, through round one of play.
The Cougars will hit the green for round two of the Stanford Intercollegiate Saturday at 7:30 a.m.
