THIS WEEK: The Cougars travel to Honolulu, Hawaii to compete in the Weinman Foundation Invitational, hosted by the University of Hawaii,Jan. 4-6. Play will begin Thursday at 2 p.m. PT and will consist of doubles first, then singles. The format will be an individual event, with no team scores kept. WEINMAN FOUNDATION INVITATIONAL FIELD: Joining WSU in the Weinman Foundation Invitational will be host Hawaii along with Cal State Northridge.
UP NEXT: The Cougars return to Pullman to open the dual match portion of its spring schedule by hosting Idaho and Montana State in a pair of match, Jan. 20 at Hollingbery  Fieldhouse.

LAST TIME OUT: The Cougars concluded their fall season last October by competing in the Wildcat Fall Invitational, hosted by the University of Arizona. WSU dominated the event with
Michaela Bayerlova,
Guzal Yusupova and
Tiffany Mylonas sharing co-titles for the A Flight, and
Barbora Michalkova and
Aneta Miksovska claiming co-titles in the B Flight. In doubles play, Bayerlova and Yusupova swept all three doubles matches for the A title while Mylonas and Miksovska did the same in the B flight.

BAYERLOVA CAPTURES TITLE AT ITF CHARLESTON: Freshman
Michaela Bayerlova gained her second career title at the ITF Charleston Tournament last October. Seeded No. 5, she defeated No. 1 seed Montserrat Gonzalez in the championship match, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Gonzalez entered the tournament with a singles world ranking of 438. Bayerlova ended 2017 with a world ranking of 635, after reaching her career-best of 583 in July.

COUGARS IN ITA RANKINGS: Bayerlova was ranked No. 3 among freshmen/newcomers in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's preseason rankings and junior
Tiffany Mylonas was ranked No. 109 in the November ITA singles poll. Bayerlova is the first Cougar to be ranked in the freshman/newcomer poll since the ranking began in the fall of 2010.

Lisa Hart is entering her 15th season as the head coach at Washington State. Hart has accumulated 181 wins over her tenure, finishing the last season with a 10-16 record.
