WSU Volleyball Grabs 3-0 Victory over Incarnate Word

WHO WHAT WHEN WHERE…
PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Washington State volleyball team (3-0) hit a season-high .394 in the 25-17, 25-21, 25-18 win over the University of Incarnate Word Thursday afternoon in the second match of the Cougar Challenge Tournament at Bohler Gym.
Junior Ella Lajos led the Cougs with 10 kills, a season-high .571 hitting percentage and six blocks. Junior McKenna Woodford chipped in nine kills with no errors in 15 attacks for a .600 hitting percentage. Sophomore Ashley Brown and freshman Penny Tusa combined for 26 assists. Senior Casey Schoenlein and redshirt sophomore Jocelyn Urias contributed four blocks each as WSU out-blocked the Cardinals 10 to 3.
WHY & HOW...
As a team, WSU had 37 kills with nine errors in 71 attacks for the .394 hitting percentage. This was the 22nd time in school history and the second time in the WSU Head Coach Jen Greeny era that the Cougars have committed nine or few errors in a match.

NOTES…
- Taylor Mims served a trio of consecutive aces in the opening set.
- WSU never trailed in the match versus Incarnate Word.
- Incarnate Word, from San Antonio, Texas, started the day with a five-set win over Quinnipiac (0-5). It was UIW's first match of the season as their scheduled contests last weekend were cancelled in anticipation of Hurricane Harvey.
