El Macero Classic Up Next for Men’s Golf

The Cougars will travel to Northern California for their next tournament.
THIS WEEK: In its final regular-season tournament before the Pac-12 Championships, Washington State men's golf travels to Northern California to compete at the El Macero Classic, April 13-14, at the El Macero Country Club.
THE TOURNAMENT: The two-day tournament co-hosted by UC Davis and Nevada will play at a par-72 on a 6,912-yard track…the sixth-annual event was formally known as the Winchester Classic…the first two rounds will be played Thursday, while the final round will begin Friday morning.
THE FIELD: Joining WSU and host-schools UC Davis and Nevada in the 14-team field will be Cal State Fullerton, UC Riverside, Sacramento State, Fairleigh Dickinson, Fresno State, Idaho, Northern Colorado, Oregon State, Seattle, and Utah Valley.
REPRESENTING WASHINGTON STATE: Competing for the Cougars will be junior Zach Anderson, senior Nick Mandell, juniors Derek Bayley and Brian Mogg, and freshman Daniel Kolar…sophomore AJ Armstrong will be competing as an individual.
LAST TIME ON THE GREEN: Led by Anderson, WSU finished sixth (+26, 878) at the Duck Invitational, March 27-28…Anderson recorded his third top-10 finish of the season after tying for 10th with a three-round score 214 (+1)…Mandell tied for 29th after shooting 8-over through three rounds (221)…Bayley finished in 42nd place (+10, 223), while Cole tied for 48th (+12, 225)…Armstrong ended play with a score of 229 (+16) and tied for 66th place.
COACHING STAFF: The team is led by first-year head coach Dustin White, who was an assistant coach at WSU before accepting the head coach position…White golfed for the Cougars from 1999-2003…assistant coach Chris Gilbert joined the WSU coaching staff this season…Gilbert graduated from Kansas in 2013 and turned pro the same year before accepting the assistant coach position.
