Washington State Finishes 11th at Bandon Dunes Championship

The Cougars shot 2-over (290) on the day.

BANDON, Ore. – Washington State men's golf shot 2-over par, to finish 11th, Tuesday, after the third and final round of the Bandon Dunes Championship hosted by Gonzaga and held at Old MacDonald Course at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort.

The Cougars tied its first round score (+2, 290), after shooting 13-over par (301) in the second round Monday. WSU entered the day tied for 11th and finished in sole possession of 11th at 17-over par (881). No. 14 Oregon continued to dominate the tournament, shooting 12-under par (276) in the third round for a three-round total of 28-under par (836). 

No. 9 Texas Tech remained in second after shooting 1-under on the day for a final score of 7-under par (857). Oregon State (-6, 858), No. 21 Colorado (-4, 860) and No. 18 Texas A&M (+5, 869), rounded out the top-5. 

Texas Tech's Hannes Ronneblad led after each round to capture the individual title with a total score of 10-under par (206). Oregon's Wyndham Clark (-8, 208), Edwin Yi (-8, 208) and Ryan Gronlund (-7, 209) came in tied for second and fourth, respectively. Clark is ranked the second-best men's collegiate golfer in the latest Golfweek Rankings.

Junior Derek Bayley shot even-par (72) in the third round to finish tied for 31st with a three-round score of 4-over par (220). Senior Nick Mandell had his best round of the tournament Tuesday, carding four birdies and an eagle to finish the third round 1-under par (71). He finished tied for 45th at 7-over par (223). Sophomore AJ Armstrong shot even par (72), and junior Zach Anderson shot 3-over par (75) as they both tied with Mandell at 45th.

Sophomore Grant Cole shot 5-over par (77) on the day to finish with a three-round score of 9-over par (225) for a tie for 51st. Competing as an individual, junior Brian Mogg shot 2-over par (74) on the day to finish the tournament tied for 42nd with a three-round score of 6-over par (222).

The Cougars next head to Eugene, Ore., for the Duck Invitational, Monday and Tuesday, March 27 and 28.
