"It's always tough coming back off of a great weekend of competing but I thought our team responded very well!"
Wayne Phipps, WSU Director of Cross Country/Track & Field said. "There was an awesome atmosphere in our facility and we had an amazing crew of officials and support to make a huge meet run very smoothly.
Liz Harper had a great season opener in the pentathlon and
Ray Littles competed very well in his first multi ever.
Sam Brixey,
Ja'Maun Charles and
Regyn Gaffney continue to perform at such a consistently high level. We had several lifetime or season best in the vertical jumps, led by
Kristine Felix who is the on verge of a huge breakthrough performance. It was really important for us to have a home meet this weekend so we could take a break from traveling, get in a good hard week of training, get back to work in the classroom, and compete in an awesome environment."
Â
Next weekend, Feb. 10-11, the Cougars' teams split up for competition with the sprinters, hurdlers and horizontal jumpers headed to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the Don Kirby Elite/Invite, and WSU's distance, throwers and vertical jump competitors going to Seattle for the Husky Classic meet.
