WSU TRACK & FIELD GOES TO ALBUQUERQUE AND SEATTLE FOR MEETS
The Washington State University track and field teams split again this weekend for indoor competition...the men and women distance runners will head to Seattle for the UW Invitational Meet, Jan. 27-28 at the Dempsey Indoor Facility...all other events competitors will travel to Albuquerque for the New Mexico Team Invitational Meet, Jan. 28...the meet is held at the Albuquerque Convention Center, site of many national and international meets...Live Results will be available at recordtiming.com (rtspt.com/events/unm/12817/)..the link for Live Results from Seattle will be placed on the WSU T&F online schedule page when available before the meet...results will be posted at www.wsucougars.com, following both meet's completion.
WAYNE PHIPPS, DIR. OF WSU CROSS COUNTRY/TRACK & FIELD
Wayne Phipps (University of British Columbia '91) is in his third season with the Washington State track and field program...he became the 15th men's coach and the second coach for the combined men's and women's program at WSU on July 1, 2014, after 19 years at the University of Idaho...Phipps led the Cougar men's cross country program back-to-back NCAA Championships at-large berth appearances with a 14th-place finish in 2016: the highest in 32 years after the entire 2015 team that placed 26th returned for the 2016 season....during the 2016 Track & Field season, a pair of Cougs earned second-team All-America honors...Cougars tallied 25 new entries into the WSU all-time top ten records...while at Idaho, Phipps was honored 14 times as a conference coach of the year and led the Vandals to a record 16 conference titles.
