PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State's Barbora Michalkova and Aneta Miksovska advanced to the finals of the doubles flight Saturday during the second day of action at the 2016 Cougar Classic.
 
WSU's Michalkova and Miksovska began the day with a 6-3 victory over Boise State's Lilian Poling and Nancy Menjivar. The pair then advanced to the final round after defeating Montana State's Laura Middel and Noami Holopainen, 6-0.
 
WSU newcomers Lejla Colic and Ege Tomey won their first match of the day with a 6-3 score over Montana State's Laura Mary and Chloe Goyette, 6-3. The duo then fell during the semifinals to Hanna Kantenwein and Milena Toseva of Boise State, 6-3.
 
The Cougars' doubles team of Victoria Matejevic and Melisa Ates fell during the quarterfinals to Montana's Middel and Holopainen, 6-4, but bounced back during the doubles consolation round defeating Mary and Goyette of Montana State 7-5. 
 
Two Cougars advanced to the finals in the Crimson Singles Flight. Sophomore Miksovska defeated Montana's Hannah Sulz 6-1, 7-5, while Michalkova bested Kantenwein of Boise State, 6-3, 6-2.
 
In the Gray Singles Flight, Ates advanced to the finals after posting a 7-5 victory over Montana's Goyette. WSU's Colic earned a spot in the finals with a hard-fought 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 win against teammate Tomey.
 
In the consolation singles round, Victoria Matejevic began with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Montana's Lidia Dukic, and then defeated Montana's Middel, 6-2, 6-4.
 
The Cougars conclude play Sunday at the Cougar Classic with matches starting at 10 a.m. at the WSU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
