Six Cougars Named to Pac-12 Volleyball All-Academic Teams

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Washington State volleyball team had six players selected to the 2016 Pac-12 All-Academic teams, Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott announced Thursday.
Junior Casey Schoenlein and sophomore McKenna Woodford were named to the seven-member Pac-12 All-Academic First Team. Schoenlein, an outside hitter from Bellevue, Wash., was a First Team selection for the second consecutive year. She has a 3.92 cumulative grade point average and is majoring in Journalism and Media Production. Woodford, an outside hitter from Chandler, Ariz., has a 3.83 GPA and is yet to certify in a major area of study.
Hailey Bethune was named to the seven-member All-Academic Second Team. Bethune, a senior outside hitter from Stockton, Calif., has a 3.52 GPA and is majoring in general medical sciences.
A trio of Cougars were named to the honorable mention team with seniors Haley MacDonald and Tani Stephens earning the honors for the third consecutive time in their careers. MacDonald, a setter from Bothell, Wash., has a 3.06 GPA and is majoring in Human Development. Stephens, a defensive specialist from Albany, Ore., has a 3.47 GPA and is graduating next month with a degree in Sport Science. Joining the seniors is sophomore Claire Martin, a middle blocker from Bremerton, Wash., with a 3.44 GPA majoring in mechanical engineering.
A total of 57 student-athletes were selected to the 2016 Pac-12 All-Academic teams. To be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average and appear in at least 50 percent of their team's games.
