Women's Golf Tees Off in New Mexico

THIS WEEK: The Washington State University women's golf team travels to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the 2015 Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational at The Championship Golf Course, Sept. 14-15.
THE COURSE: The Championship Golf Course at the University of New Mexico is a par-73, 6,315-yard track …the first and second rounds will take place on Monday, Sept. 14, signaled by a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m…the final round will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
THE FIELD: Joining host-school New Mexico in the 17–team field will be UC Davis, Cal State Fullerton, Denver, Gonzaga, Iowa State, Miami, UNLV, Northwestern, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Oregon State, Pepperdine, San Diego State, Stanford, UTEP, and Washington State.
THIS YEAR'S COUGARS: Women's golf welcomes freshman Madison Odiorne to the team for its 2015-16 campaign…seven golfers return, led by seniors Rachel Lewis, Monica Huang, and Nani Yanagi.
REPRESENTING WASHINGTON STATE: Competing for the Cougar women will be junior Cherokee Kim, sophomore Alivia Brown, seniors Nani Yanagi and Rachel Lewis, and sophomore Bree Wanderscheid. Monica Huang will compete as an individual.
COACHING STAFF: This will be Kelli Kamimura's seventh season as head coach…last season, Kamimura led the Cougars to their lowest team scoring average in school history…WSU alumna Emma Betland is entering her second season as assistant coach…Betland golfed for WSU from 2010-2013.
