LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Starter Mitch Hart threw a two-hit shutout to lead No. 6 USC to an 11-0 victory over Washington State Sunday afternoon at Dedeaux Field.

Hart retired 15 of the first 17 batters he faced, the only blemishes coming to Tyler McDowell, who he hit and walked in McDowell's first two plate appearances. Hart allowed singles to Shea Donlin in the sixth and Cooper Elliott in the ninth as that was all as the Trojans (17-3, 2-1) captured two of three in the series.

After pounding out nine hits in Saturday's 4-2 win, Washington State (12-7, 1-2) struggled at the plate Sunday. The Cougars managed just the two singles and drew only one walk against the Trojan freshman, who added five strikeouts in the game.

After scoring one in the first, USC added two more in the second off Cougar starter Nick Leonard as Dante Flores and David Oppenheim connected on solo home runs, pushing USC's lead to 3-0.

Leonard last just two innings in the start, surrendering three runs on four hits, before giving way to Matt Bower. Bower retired the first six batters he faced, keeping the game close, but ran into trouble in the fifth when USC put up four runs on four hits, taking advantage of two Cougars errors to blow the game open.

The Trojans added single runs in the sixth and eighth sandwiched around two in the seventh for the final margin of victory. For the game USC had 13 hits, including three home runs, scoring off all six Cougar pitchers.

The Cougars are next in action Tuesday when they travel south to face the University of San Diego. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
