Brown Leads Cougars through Two at Pac-12 Preview

KAILUA KONA, Hawaii – The Washington State University women's golf team is tied for sixth place with No. 43 Colorado after shooting 20-over par (604) through two rounds at the Pac-12 Preview, Monday, at Nanea Golf Club.
WSU is 11 strokes back of co-leaders No. 15 Arizona State and No. 3 UCLA, who lead the field of 10 at 9-over (593). In-state rival, No. 14 Washington rounds out the top three, two strokes back of first at 11-over (595).
"The conditions were tough today and the players really fought hard," WSU Head Coach Kelli Kamimura said. "We were 6-under for our last six holes today and put ourselves in a good position for the final round."
Sophomore Alivia Brown is tied for third after shooting even par (73) in both rounds. Brown carded 10 birdies on the day and is seven strokes back of leader Charlotte Thomas of Washington (-7, 139).
Senior Monica Huang is also representing the Cougars in the top 25 through two rounds. Huang, after one of her strongest starts of the season, is tied for 21st at 5-over (151).
Junior Cherokee Kim, who carded five birdies on the day, is tied for 26th at 7-over (153). Bree Wanderscheid is tied for 31st with a two-round score of 154 (+8). The sophomore improved her score by four strokes in the second round, shooting 2-over (75).
Senior Nani Yanagi is in 47th (+15, 161) after shooting a first-round 79 and a second-round 82. Freshman Madison Odiorne and senior Rachel Lewis are competing as individuals, and are tied for 53rd (+19, 165) and for 56th (+23,169), respectively.
