PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Washington State senior Elizaveta Luzina won her first match but could not match that result in the second round as she was eliminated from the ITA/Riviera All-American Championships qualifying draw Tuesday.
In her first round Luzina, who is currently ranked No. 66 by the ITA, posted a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 victory over No. 80 Ana Vladutu of DePaul. In her next match Luzina faced Caroline Doyle of Stanford, who entered the event ranked No. 33. Doyle posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory, ending Luzina's run at the event.
The Cougars will next be in action Friday when they host the WSU Invitational at the WSU Outdoor Tennis Courts. In addition to the Cougars, the four-team event includes Oregon, Portland and Idaho. Play begins at 9 a.m.
