Heather Holte is in the first year of her second stint at Washington State University, coming back to the Cougars after spending three seasons at Oregon.
Holte was the assistant golf coach at WSU from 2000-04. While at WSU, the team qualified for the NCAA West Regional three consecutive years and in 2002-03 the team competed at nationals for the first time in school history.
She has also served as an assistant coach for Texas State University's softball team (2000-01). That same year the team made school history by winning the Southland Conference Championship with a 29-1 record. She also was the head softball coach at West Albany High School in Oregon (1997-00). During her last year at West Albany the team earned the league championship, the first time in school history.
Holte was a two-sport varsity athlete in golf and softball at Oregon from 1992-97. On the diamond she was named second-team All-Pac-10 in 1997 after leading the Ducks in both hits and home runs; she broke the home run record her senior year with 12 home runs. On the course she was a member of the Ducks' regional qualifying team in 1995 after walking on that same season.
She graduated in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in exercise and movement science with a minor in biology. Holte was named first-team Academic All-Pac-10 and All-Academic Region VIII, and was the recipient of the S.O.A.R. Award, given to student-athletes who show success both on the field and in the classroom.
Holte recently got her amateur status back and qualified for the 2008 USGA Women's Amateur Public Links Championships. She also qualified for the 2008 USGA Women's Mid-Amateur Championship and finished third at the 2008 OGA Women's Mid Amateur.
