HIGH SCHOOL CAREER. Earned five varsity letters at Hillcrest High...one letter for volleyball coach Stacey Lane...four letters for track coach Artkeyta Moore-Edison...competed in high school as Mercedes Young...three-time All-South Suburban Conference quartermiler...competed at Class AA State Championships sophomore through senior years...top state meet finishes include runner-up in 400m dash as junior with time of 55.72 after a sixth place finish as sophomore...also seventh in the 200m dash as senior (22.84 prelim time)...4x400m relay was second sophomore year and fourth senior season...also competed at state championships in long jump and triple jump...at 2012 AAU Junior Olympics Games (New Orleans) ran a PR time of 55.35 in the prelims of the 400m and finished fourth in the finals (55.77)...at AAU Area 10 national qualifying meet (Normal, Ill.) ran a PR 200m time of 24.59.
