SPOKANE - Four women and three men from the Washington State track and field teams scored wins Saturday in spite of the cool temperatures and brisk winds at the WAR VI meet hosted by Community Colleges of Spokane at the Spokane Falls CC track.
Bree Winfrey (sophomore, Mission Hills, Calif.) won the women's 200m dash in a time of 25.22 seconds and Bria'una Watley (redshirt sophomore, Granada Hills, Calif.) was second with a time of 25.36. Morgan Clem (senior, East Wenatchee, Wash.) won the 100m hurdles in a time of 14.85. Cougar women winning field events included Carly Fitzpatrick (senior, Sumner, Wash.) with an outdoor lifetime-best in the pole vault with a height of 11-feet 11 3/4 inches (3.65m), and Shantae Young (junior, Oak Harbor, Wash.) won the long jump with a season-best leap of 17-8 1/4 (5.39m).
Thane Pierson (freshman, Naches, Wash.) won the men's high jump with a season-best height of 6-7 1/2 (2.02m). PJ Benedictus (sophomore, Renton, Wash.) won the triple jump with a leap that equaled his season-best distance of 46-10 1/4 (14.28m). Sam Ferenchak (sophomore, Vancouver, Wash.) won the javelin with season-best toss of 207-1 (63.11m) while Cougar teammate Kyle Stevens (junior, Snoqualmie, Wash.) took second place with a season-best toss of 205-9 (62.71m).
