LOS ANGELES - Two Washington State throwers reached lifetime-bests and two more tossed season-bests during the limited events contested Friday at the Trojan Invitational track and field meet at Loker Stadium-Cromwell Field on the USC campus.
Anna Adamko, a sophomore from Vancouver, Wash., was the runner-up in the women's javelin with a PR throw of 161-feet 5 inches (49.21m), the sixth-best women's javelin throw in WSU history.
Jaclyn Onosko (junior, Kent, Wash.) tossed the javelin a PR distance of 147-9 (45.03m) for fifth place. Celena Ward (sophomore, Spokane) finished sixth with a season-best toss of 145-5 (44.32m) while Christine Kirkwood (sophomore, Othello, Wash.) threw 143-8 (43.80m) for seventh. Kelsie Taylor (freshman, Naches, Wash.) was eighth with a throw of 141-8 (43.18m).
In the men's javelin, Kyle Stevens (junior, Snoqualmie, Wash.) tossed a season-best distance of 204-5 (62.32m) for sixth place. Other Cougar men throwing the javelin Friday night included Sam Ferenchak (195-4/59.55m - eighth), and Derek Byrne (184-10/56.35m - 10th).
Chris Baltazar (senior, St. Louis, Mo.) threw the men's hammer 162-11 (49.67m) for sixth place and Travis Pickett (freshman, Snohomish, Wash.), took seventh place with a distance thrown of 153-7 (46.82m).
The USC Trojan Invitational continues Saturday, March 23.
