STANFORD, Calif. -
Washington State recorded a pair of doubles victories to conclude play at the 2012 ITA Northwest Regional Sunday morning at the Taube Family Tennis Center.
Senior Liudmila Vasilieva and freshman Lize Leenknecht started the day with a victory over Chelsea Patton and Moira Hedberg of Eastern Washington 8-3. The pairing of Elizaveta Luzina and Erin Troedson followed in their teammates footsteps, defeating Katie Edwards and Melanie Yates of Gonzaga 8-4. Andjela Kankaras and Charlotte Koning fell in a close match to Melissa McQueen and Bianca Modoc of Fresno State 8-6.
The tournament marked the final event of the fall season for the Cougars. Leading the way for WSU was Vasilieva, who posted an 11-3 singles record, followed by Kankaras, Koning, Luzina and senior Ksenia Googe with seven wins each.
The Cougars will open the spring portion of their schedule Jan. 18, 2013, when they host Portland State.
