Cougars Improve at Pac-10-SEC Challenge

Sophomore Ali Thompson improved by eight strokes from the first round to lead Washington State University women's golf team during the second day of play at the 2010 Pac-10 - SEC Challenge, competed on the par 71, 6,148-yard Stanford Golf Course.
The Cougars improved by five strokes from Friday to post a second-round score of 310. They have a two-round total of 625 and are tied for 20th with Mississippi State. UCLA leads the field with a score of 566 with Auburn and Alabama nine shots behind. Seventeen of the 21 teams in the field are ranked among the top 36 nationally.
Thompson's second-round score of 74 (+3) moved her up 15 spots on the leaderboard as she is tied for 81st at 156 (+14). Junior Kristen Allard continues to lead WSU as she shot a second-round score of 78 (+7) and is tied for 68th at 11-over 153.
Sophomore Ellen Park improved by one stroke from Friday as she fired a 79 (+8) and has a two-day score of 159, tied for 92nd. Sophomore Emma Betland also shot a 79 (+8) and is tied for 96th at 161 (+19). Freshman Mallory Kent, who shot a 78 on Friday, followed that with an 83 (+12) and is tied with Betland at 161.
Play concludes Sunday with the final round scheduled to tee off at 8:30 a.m.
