Volleyball Falls to No. 24 Oregon in Three Sets

PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Washington State volleyball team (6-22, 0-18 Pac-10) ended the season with a 25-21, 25-22, and 25-23 loss to No. 24 Oregon (19-11, 7-11) Saturday night in Bohler Gym.

The Ducks' Heather Meyers led the match with 16 kills while hitting .423. Katherine Fischer added 12 kills, Lauren Plum had 35 assists and Haley Jacob had 10 digs. Jocelyn Levig led the match with five blocks. Oregon hit .308 for the match.

Meagan Ganzer's 14 kills (.344) and four blocks led the Cougs. Brittany Tillman added 11 kills (.421) and Marcelina Glab had eight kills (.500) and four blocks. Oceana Bush led the match with 16 digs and Sara Biondi had 35 assists.

Meyers landed seven kills in the opening set as Oregon scored five straight points to battle back from a 19-14 deficit to tie the set. After ties at 20 and 21, the Ducks scored next four consecutive points for the 25-21 win.

Down 21-15 in the second set, the Cougars made a run and stopped Oregon at set point three times before falling to the visitors 25-22.

Oregon took a 21-17 lead in the third set when WSU out-scored the Ducks six to three before dropping the set 25-23.

This match concluded the Washington State team's 2010 season. The NCAA Championship Tournament selection announcement is set for Sunday, Nov. 28.
