Volleyball Swept by No. 2 Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. -- No. 2 Stanford continued its dominance with a 25-13, 25-15, and 25-10, win over Washington State Saturday night at Maples Pavilion before 2,658 fans. Stanford moves to 16-1 overall, 7-1 in Pac-10 and WSU drops to 6-11 overall, 0-7 in conference play.

Meagan Ganzer led the Cougars with 12 kills and Conley Kipp added five kills. Oceana Bush had 11 digs and Sara Biondi had 19 assists. Kipp and Marcelina Glab each had two blocks.

Stanford was led by the 15 kills and .522 hitting percentage of conference leader Alix Klineman. Jessica Walker added six kills, hit .455, and had a match-high four blocks. Cassidy Lichtman had 32 assists and three service aces. Gabi Ailes led the match with 19 digs. Stanford hit .421 for the match and held WSU to a .067 hitting percentage.

"Stanford showed why they are ranked so high nationally. I was disappointed that we didn't come out tonight with more energy," WSU Head Coach Andrew Palileo said.

Washington State returns home next weekend to host Arizona State (8-11, 3-5) and Arizona (14-5, 3-3). As part of the Wear Pink Weekend at WSU, the Oct. 23 match against Arizona is the Attacking Breast Cancer match where the Cougs wear pink jerseys and the first 100 fans will be given pink T-shirts but all fans are encouraged to wear pink as well.
