LEWISTON, Idaho -- The No. 46 Washington State tennis team lost to the No. 15 UCLA Bruins 4-1, Friday at the Lewis Clark State College Tennis Center.
The Cougars (7-11, 0-6 Pacific-10), led by No. 1 doubles tandem Lorena Arias and Chris Martinez,
won all three doubles matches and earned the doubles point to take an early 1-0 lead. But UCLA
rallied in singles action, winning on courts one though four and taking a 4-1 victory.
Two WSU doubles tandems, Lorena Arias/Chris Martinez and Zsofi Fodor/Nora Gaal, have won 17 doubles matches this season, which ties them for sixth on the WSU single-season list. Last season, Erica Perkins and Stacy McKenna set the Cougar record with 24 victories.
WSU will host No. 2 USC (Saturday April 12 at noon) next. The match will probably be played at
the Stadium Way Tennis Center, but poor weather could force the matches indoors to Lewiston,
Idaho.
