Cougars Drop Pac-10 Opener To USC

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) - Desmon Farmer pumped in a career-high 35 points, including 31 in the second half, to lift Southern California to a 97-90 victory over Washington State Thursday night in the Pac-10 opener for both schools.
Farmer connected on seven of eight 3-point shots in the second half, also a career high for the junior guard.
Southern Cal (5-3), trailed by as many as 10 points in the first half and did not take the lead until Farmer hit his third 3-pointer.
Errick Craven and Rory O'Neil added 16 and 14 points, respectively, for the Trojans.
Marcus Moore led the Cougars (5-5) with 20 points despite sitting for almost six minutes late in the second half.
