LaToya Harris-Alexander, aka “Air Harris”, remains one of the most dominant outside hitters in Washington State volleyball history. Harris-Alexander, who graduated as a four-time All-Pac-10 honoree, remained in the top-five all-time in career kills and kills per set 20 years following her graduation. Undersized for her position at 5’-7”, she left her legacy rising above the net in Bohler Gym over the span of a four-year career (1999-2002) that was highlighted by three-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances from 2000-02. Her senior campaign in the fall of 2002 saw the Cougars take out nine ranked teams including a pair of top-10 teams during the year, culminating in program-best run to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight. Now two decades removed, her 29-kill performance against Stanford during her senior year still stands as the fifth-most for a single match in WSU history. She remains top-10 in WSU history in career attack attempts and sits seventh all-time in career hitting percentage at .246 at the time of her Hall of Fame induction. A three-time, first-team all-conference honoree and a three-year captain during her playing days, Harris-Alexander has since gone on to lead the volleyball program as head coach at Lewis-Clark State College where she led her team to a 2011 NAIA national tournament appearance before stepping down to relocate back to her hometown of Portland, Ore.
