Cassie (Thompson) Krieger joined the Washington State women’s volleyball staff during the Spring 2024 semester following three seasons as an assistant coach at Whitman College.
Krieger began her time in Walla Walla as a volunteer assistant coach before being promoted prior to the 2022 season. In her first season as a full-time assistant coach, Whitman posted its highest number of conference wins (8) since 2017. Krieger’s primary responsibilities at Whitman included coordinating team travel, video analysis, recruiting efforts, and middle blocker development. During her time in Walla Walla she helped the Blues earn six Northwest Conference All-Conference nods.
A former Division III standout, Cassie (Thompson) Krieger was a first-team All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection as a middle blocker. She captained her team to a second Division III NCAA Tournament appearance as a senior and ranks in the ULV career top-10 for total blocks. She graduated from La Verne in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in international business and earned her master’s degree in sports management from Washington State University in 2020. Krieger began her coaching career at the club level and has spent time coaching for both Club ZZU in Pullman and PAC Juniors in Southern California.
Originally from Palouse, Wash., Krieger was born in Pullman and got her first head coaching gig at Lewiston High School while completing her master’s program at WSU. She currently resides in Pullman with her husband Robby and cat, Friday.
