Washington State University Director of Athletics Anne McCoy announced June 24, 2024 the hiring of Kevin Tucker as the Cougars' eighth women's head golf coach.
Prior to leading the women’s program, Tucker spent the prior six seasons on the WSU men's golf staff, most recently serving as associate head coach. The Washington State alum was also a two-time NCAA Regional Championship participant in his playing days as a Cougar.
In his first season leading the Cougars, Tucker saw WSU produce the third-best team scoring average in program history at 297.51 while sophomore Alice Johansson enjoyed a breakout season with a pair of individual victories, All-West Coast Conference honors and the fourth-best scoring average in single-season history at 73.37. Under Tucker, the Cougars had a number of impressive feats, beginning with a 54-hole team record 856 and tied for sixth in the Clash at Boulder Creek highlighted by a team second-round 280, matching the lowest team round in program history. WSU also tied for second at the Nashville Invitational and placed third at the USF Invitational. Following the season, five Cougars earned West Coast Conference All-Academic honors.
Tucker played on the men's golf team at Washington State from 2006-10 and was the second Cougar in school history to be invited to the NCAA Regional Championship his junior year. He went back to the championship his senior year, becoming the first Cougar golfer to receive multiple individual post-season invites. Tucker was also a two-time All-Pacific-10 Conference honorable mention honoree, making him the third Cougar in school history to receive multiple post-season accolades.
During his time away from WSU, Tucker spent seven years playing professional golf and working at various golf clubs. He competed on the PGA Canada Tour from 2011-14, while also competing in All-American tour in Phoenix from 2011-13. He spent one season on the Dakotas Tour in 2016. Tucker worked at many Golf Clubs including the Estancia Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., Castle Pines Golf Club in Castle Rock, Colo., and Scottsdale National Golf Club.
Originally from Kennewick Wash., Tucker graduated from Kennewick High School in 2006. He is married to his wife, Ellen Kellie, who is also a WSU alum.
