Biography
JUNIOR (2021-22) – Named a preseason All-Pac-12 honoree ... played in 35 of 37 games on the year with 25 starts ... finished third on the team in scoring at 9.5 ppg while adding 3.1 rpg ... led the team defensively at 1.1 steals per game nabbing 39 total steals ... in three seasons on the Palouse moved to 13th all-time in career steals with 112 ... scored in double-figures 19 times while leading the Cougs in scoring four times ... netted a season-best 19 points twice on the year first against Winthrop and again later in regular season finale against Oregon ... finished second on the team with 83 made FT on a team-high 116 FTA.
SOPHOMORE (2020-21) – Arguably the Pac-12's most improved player as a sophomore, earned All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention at the end of the season ... one of just two Cougs to play in and start all 27 games ... earned the team's lone Pac-12 Player of the Week award while also being named the national player of the week after posting the most prolific scoring weekend in program history scoring 72 points against Cal and Stanford ... became just the fifth Coug all-time to score 30+ points in back-to-back games ... scored a then career-high 32 points against Cal, before beating his own mark with a 40-point effort against the Cardinal, the first 40+ point performance for a Coug since the legend Klay Thompson’s 43-point performance in 2011 ... the 40 points were the most points scored by a Pac-12 player this season and the most scored in a conference game since 2016 ... in the 40-point performance, set a program record with 35 FGA finishing the contest 12-for-35 including going 8-for-18 from deep ... finished the regular season leading the team in total points with 381 while scoring 14.1 points per game, 14th in the conference and an eight-point jump from his freshman season ... posted four 20+ point games that included two 30+ point games and the team's first 40-point game in over a decade ... led the way with a league-best 41 steals while also drawing a team-best 11 charges.
FRESHMAN (2019-20) – Played in 29 games with 13 starts, all in Pac-12 play, in his first year at WSU…scored in double-figures in eight games including twice against rival Washington scoring 10 in 30 minutes Feb. 9 in Pullman and 15 in 26 minutes Feb. 28 in Seattle on his birthday…sealed the win for the Cougs over the Huskies in Seattle with two free-throws with :05.7 remaining…shot 72.2% from the line (57-of-79) the fifth best mark for a freshman in program history…finished third on the team with 31 total steals including a career-best four in the Cougs win over Arizona State (Jan. 29)…scored a season-best 17 points against Oregon State (Jan. 18) at home in front of Klay Thompson…finished the year averaging 6.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 21.7 minutes per game.
HIGH SCHOOL – Spent his high school career at O’Dea HS in Seattle, where he helped lead the Fighting Irish to the 2019 Washington 3A boys’ basketball State championship as a senior, as he was named the game MVP with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists in the title game victory over Mt Spokane…averaged 17.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 4.7 assists as a senior and picked up ALL-USA Washington Boys Basketball Second Team, All-Metro League, All-Region, All-State and honorable mention All-America honors…a four-time All-Metro League honoree, Williams averaged 15.7 points, 5.2 assists and 3.3 steals as a junior and 16.8 points, 4.5 assists and 2.9 steals as a sophomore. As a freshman Williams averaged 10.3 points, 3.6 assists and 2.5 steals as he helped lead O’Dea to the State championship game.
PERSONAL – Born Noah Williams, Feb. of 2001 in Seattle, Wash….mother Monique…father Guy Williams played at WSU for two seasons, 1981-82 and 1982-83, where he averaged 13.8 points and 6.8 rebounds over his WSU career after transferring from San Francisco…in an injury-shortened season in 1982-83 he was named NABC District 14 second team and Honorable Mention All-America by The Sporting News after averaging 18.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per outing in 15 games…he scored a then-WSU record 43 points against Idaho State, Jan. 3, 1983, which still ranks third on the Cougars’ single-game list…the Cougars advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament that season.
