COUGAR INVITATIONAL MEET APRIL 20
The 13th Annual Cougar Invitational outdoor track and field meet is set for Saturday, April 20, at the Mooberry Track Complex...tentative schedule has field events beginning at 9:30 a.m. and running events set to start at Noon...admission is free and concessions are available...free parking is available at the Beasley Coliseum Yellow 1 lot...meet features collegiate competitors from around the Northwest...entry standards and meet schedule are posted on the WSU website, www.wsucougars.com...results will be posted online at the completion of the meet...a select group of Cougar track and field participants will also be competing at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., April 18-20.
ABOUT THE MT. SAC RELAYS
The is the 55th year for the Mt. San Antonio College Relays, "Where the world's best athletes compete"...competitors from high schools, community colleges and universities, and the elite division flock to Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut, Calif...Live streaming video of this year's Relays will be available online at http://www.mtsacrelays.com...WSU Head Coach Rick Sloan coached track at Mt. SAC from 1972-73 and was inducted into the Mt. SAC Relays Hall of Fame in 2006.

MOOBERRY TRACK RENOVATION
The Mooberry Track Complex underwent a renovation in the summer of 2012, updating the track surface and reconfiguring the field events within the infield track area for more effective use...constructed in 1979-80, the last time the track was resurfaced was in 1999...new running surface is a Beynon Sports Surface, a high-performance synthetic surface designed for speed and competition as well as daily training, found in the world's most renowned athletic facilities...in addition to a new drainage system, the discus circle was moved to the center of the infield...the entire "D" section, from the finish line of the 100 meters on the east side of the oval to the start of the 1500 meters on the west side, is covered by the Beynon surface....bi-directional long jump pits as well as the pole vault will be set up to have boxes at either end of the runway for competion in either direction...the last phase of the renovation is scheduled for summer of 2013 includes filling in the "D" at the south end of the field and creating a much larger high jump area and the ability to compete in different directions.
WSU MEN & WOMEN RANKED 10th IN Track & Field News OUTDOOR DUAL MEET RANKINGS
The WSU men's team is 10th and women's team is 22nd in the April 9 Track & Field News magazine's outdoor dual meet rankings...Arkansas men and LSU women lead the 2013 outdoor dual meet team rankings...to be considered, a team must compete in at least one dual meet using TFN's definition of a dual meet as a scored meet between four or fewer teams...rankings are compiled for a combined indoor and outdoor season with outdoor competition given more weight...T&FN's dual meet rankings, compiled by Jesse Squire (http://www.tracksuperfan.com) are a revival of annual rankings compiled from 1970 to 1995.
