COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho (Sept. 21, 2026) – The Washington State men’s golf team opened play Monday at Coeur d’Alene National Reserve, finishing the first round in second place at 4-under par. The Cougars sit five strokes behind Oregon State heading into Tuesday’s second round.
Junior Dylan Burcham led the Cougars with a 5-under 67 and sits in second place individually. Burcham caught fire on the back nine, recording four birdies over his final six holes, including three-straight to close out the round. He finished with six birdies on the day and carded a 4-under 32 on the back nine.
Sophomore Dylan Boenning also finished under par, firing a 2-under 70 to sit tied for seventh. Boenning recorded five birdies during his opening round, including three on the front nine.
Redshirt-senior Ben Borgida finished the opening round at 1-over with a 73 and sits tied for 30th. Borgida recorded three birdies on the day, including a birdie on the par-3 ninth.
Junior Garrett Harrison carded a 2-over 74 and sits tied for 41st, while Finn McCall rounded out the Cougar lineup with a 4-over 76.
Three Cougars are also competing as individuals. Jake Goyen opened with an even-par 72, Christian Flick carded a 3-over 75 and Ben Mulder finished the first round at 5-over with a 77.
Washington State returns to the course Tuesday morning for the second and third rounds of play, with the Cougars set to tee off at 8:30 a.m.
