Cougars Wrap Up Busy Week in Southern California

AZUSA/LONG BEACH, California — Washington State Track & Field wrapped up a busy week in Southern California Friday as junior Laura Lindquist captured the javelin title the final day of the Beach Invitational in Long Beach. Additionally, two Cougars posted top-20 finishes in the 1500-meter event at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa and nine personal-bests marks were reached.
 
Bryan Clay Invitational
To start the evening, Bela Alvarado set a personal-best time in the Women's 1500 Open B with a time of 4 minutes, 34.28 seconds, good for 18th place.
 
Ferran Verges and Emmett Klus set personal bests in the Men's 1500m Open B with times of 3:54.47 and 3:59.27 respectively.
 
Rosemary Longisa was the other Coug to finish in the top-20, putting up a time of 4 minutes, 14.65 seconds in the Women's 1500 Elite event. Longisa was only a second off of her current WSU program record time for the event.
 
Beach Invitational
Lindquist finished first in the Javelin throw with a distance of 48.93 meters. Lindquist also set a personal in the Hammer throw with a distance of 53.17 meters. This distance was good enough to finish 19th overall.
 
Erik Larripa Taxell finished on the podium in Men's Pole Vault with an impressive height of 4.69 meters.
 
Up Next:
Cougs host their only home outdoor meet of the season at Mooberry Track next weekend on Friday April 25, and Saturday April 26.
