Cougars' Season Ends with CBB Crown Exit to Georgetown

LAS VEGAS – The Washington State men's basketball team lost to the Georgetown Hoyas, 82-85, Monday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in the first round of the inaugural College Basketball Crown.
Big Picture: The Cougars 2024-25 season under first-year head coach David Riley concludes with the second-most wins by a first-year coach in program history, a fourth-consecutive postseason berth, and a sixth-consecutive season at .500 or better.
Player Performances: LeJuan Watts had a team-high 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists. In his final college game, Ethan Price scored 15 points and added six rebounds, while fellow senior Dane Erikstrup had 15 points. True freshman Tomas Thrastarson had 12 points and a career-high seven rebounds.
Inside the Stat Sheet: While the Cougars found an advantage in the paint, outscoring Georgetown, 44-26, the Hoyas had the hot hand from behind the arc. Georgetown made 13 of their 36 attempts from three while the Cougars only shot 5-of-20.
Turning Point: With the Cougars in control of the lead for most of the game, the Hoyas went on a 9-0 run to capture the lead with five minutes remaining. Despite the Cougars' attempts at a comeback, two consecutive Georgetown baskets kept the Cougars comeback at bay.
