Cougars Move Up Two Spots at the Goodwin Following Friday’s Second Round

STANFORD, Calif. (March 28, 2025) – For the second consecutive day, Washington State Men's Golf shot a 17-over, 297, and finished Friday up two spots from its opening round and tied for 22nd overall at The Goodwin, held at the par 70, 6,742-yard Stanford Golf Course.
 
While the Cougars completed their second round, two competitors were on their final hole and will conclude their round Saturday morning. WSU sits tied for 22nd with a 36-hole score of 594, 34 over par. SMU and UCLA are tied atop the leader board at 5-under, 555.
 
On Friday, junior Sam Renner posted a 2-over, 72, a round which included four birdies on his card. Renner moved up seven spots from Thursday and is tied for 66th overall at 5-over, 145. Graduate student Jakob Chicoyne matched Renner's 72 as he improved by five strokes over his opening 18 holes. Chicoyne had one birdie but limited the damage on his card with just three bogeys. Chicoyne took the biggest jump of the day for WSU, moving up 31 places to finish tied for 106th at 9-over, 149.
 
Freshman Dylan Burcham fired a three-over, 75, Friday, a round that included three birdies and an eagle on the par-5, 16th. Burcham, who sot an opening-round 72, sits tied for 85th at 7-over, 147. Freshman Garrett Harrison had recorded just one birdie on his round Friday en route to an 8-over, 78, matching his opening-round score. Harrison is tied for 148th at 16-over, 156. Senior Drayton Joseph struggled Friday, posting a 12-over, 82. Joseph is tied for 151st in the first at 17-over, 157.
 
The final round at The Goodwin begins Saturday morning with the Cougars teeing-off at 7 a.m.
