Washington State senior guard Tara Wallack joins hosts Ann Schatz and Mary Murphy as the featured guest on this week's edition of the WCC POINTS IN THE PAINT Women's Basketball Podcast.

"Winning is really important, and this past weekend just proved what we can do and what the bench can provide for the team. Everyone showed up and did a great job." – Tara Wallack on WSU's performance in WCC play as the Cougars sit atop the standings

Tara Wallack is among the WCC leaders in scoring, rebounding and blocks, averaging 12.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per contest. She is a key part of a Washington State lineup that ranks third nationally in blocks per game as a team (6.8 bpg).

Along with their interview with Wallack, Schatz and Murphy discuss the impact Yvonne Ejim has had for Gonzaga, as the Bulldogs share the conference lead with the Cougars. They also look back on a wild week of games, some surging teams and dissect some of the upcoming matchups.

Here's a timeline of different WSU topics discussed in this week's edition of the WCC POINTS IN THE PAINT Women's Basketball Podcast:

6:14 – A closer look at Washington State

7:30 – Washington State's Tara Wallace joins the show

Competitions with her brothers growing up:
"Everyone in my family is good at what they do, and it has made me more competitive wanting to win and have that spirit. My brothers would not let me have anything easy. We always had 1-on-1 competitions growing up whether it was basketball or hockey. My brothers and my parents have had a very important impact on me growing up.

"Playing defense makes me excited. Those moments are big. Growing up, if I got a stop on my 6'6" brothers, the game was over. It is those little things in the game now that motivate me."

Teammate Alex Covill's impact:

"Alex has shown much more confidence and power. Whenever we pass it to her, she is going to score. She gives us more scoring opportunities. If she doesn't have the shot, she is going to pass it out and create opportunities and it is a huge advantage for our team."

WSU's recent play:

"We are such a young team. It is starting to click. Everyone is on the same page. It is starting to make sense for the younger players. With everything, experience comes with lessons. Everyone is learning. We are in a really good position right now."

Karaoke star:

"I usually perform [What Makes You Beautiful] when we go to coach's house. We are a very big karaoke team. I just love singing even though I can't. I embrace the stage."

What's next for WSU:

"We have an NCAA team and that is the end goal. I want to get back there and have the best end to my college career and I am going to do everything I can to help get us there and hopefully win the WCC Championship."

21:10 – Previewing Portland at Washington State on Thursday
