PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (December 19, 2025) – Washington State women's basketball put together one of its more complete offensive performances of the season but came up just short Friday morning, falling 67-62 to Penn.
The Cougars (1-12, 0-0 WCC) shot an efficient 48 percent from the field and knocked down nine 3-pointers, staying within striking distance from start to finish.
WSU trailed by five entering the fourth quarter and twice cut the margin to six late, continuing to pressure the Quakers until the final minute.
Eleonora Villa led Washington State with 21 points and six assists while playing all 40 minutes, consistently attacking the lane and creating looks for teammates.
Malia Ruud added 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting, and
Lauren Glazier chipped in 10 points off the bench as the Cougars received 16 bench points overall.
WSU briefly seized momentum late in the first half, closing on a 6-2 run to pull even at 34-34 at the break. Penn answered in the third quarter, but the Cougars continued to respond, using ball movement (19 assists) and perimeter shooting to stay close.
Despite being outrebounded, WSU forced 10 turnovers and showed solid defensive pressure down the stretch closing out the game on an 8-0 run, but ultimately fell 67-62.

- Eleonora Villa's 21 points puts her at 1,150 career points, moving up to 18th in program history and seven from 17th.
- Villa made two 3-pointers, putting her at 118 career made threes, 15 away from joining the WSU all-time top-10 list.
- Villa also made nine field goals, totaling 455 career made field goals, 45 from 500.
- Now at 2,761 career minutes played, Villa is 239 away from 3,000 and 562 from top-10 all-time at WSU.
- Alex Covill remains at 118 career blocks, seventh all-time in program history.
- Covill also has 198 career rebounds, 52 away from 250, and 337 career points, 163 from 500.
- Lauren Glazier set career-highs with two made 3-pointers, and four 3-point attempts.
- Nine made threes as a team and their .409 clip from deep were both season highs for WSU.
- WSU's 19 assists were also a season-high mark.
