SPOKANE, Wash./ ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Former Cougar Ray Wells Jr. ran the fastest time men's 60-meter dash time in the world at 6.48, while sophomore
Mason Lawyer finished runner-up in a lifetime-best 6.59, the ninth-best time in the nation, as Washington State men's and women's indoor track and field teams impressed on the final day of three-day Riverfront Invite and Multi at The Podium.
Micaela De Mello won the women's 60-meter hurdles at The Podium in a lifetime-best 8.19, and
Nana Gyedu won the Riverfront Invitational women's shot put with a season-best mark of 15.29m/ 50' 2.00".
Jasneet Nijjar later captured her second school record in as many days, winning the women's 400-meter run in 53.72. The senior native of Surrey, Canada, set the WSU 200m school record (23.54) to win the event on Friday night at The Podium.
Washington State's men closed things out from Spokane, winning the men's 4X400m relay in the final event of the weekend in 3:08.62 —the third-fastest time in WSU history and the 19th-best time in the NCAA this season.
Down at the N.M. Collegiate Classic in Albuquerque, N.M.,
Mason Mahacek won the 1,000m run, the final event of the heptathlon, to finish with a school-record 5,762 points and runner-up finish from the Albuquerque Convention Center. The fifth-year transfer from Michigan finished with PR's in six-of-seven legs of the heptathlon in Albuquerque including each of Saturday's final three events.

Washington State's indoor teams continue the season next weekend with another Seattle-Spokane split weekend. Dempsey Indoor will host the Husky Classic (Feb. 9-10) while The Podium plays host for the Whitworth Invitational (Feb. 9-10).
