PULLMAN, Wash. — Pia Timmer had her first double double of the season and one of her best offensive performances on the young season with 13 kills (13-1-22, .545) to along with 11 digs as 17th-ranked Washington State volleyball (5-1) defeated Tulsa (2-3), 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-16), Saturday night in Bohler Gym to cap a perfect 3-0 home opening weekend on the Palouse.

Iman Isanovic followed up with another strong performance on offense, tallying 11 kills with three digs and an ace, before later being named the Cougar Invitational Most Valuable Player. Argentina Ung and Magda Jehlarova were also named to the Cougar Invitational All-Tournament Team following Saturday's finale vs. Tulsa. Ung added three kills and 34 assists on the night with a pair of solo blocks and an ace at the service line. Jehlarova, one match removed from becoming the program's all-time leader in career blocks (620), finished the win over Tulsa with a whopping .727 hitting percentage (8-0-11) and three block assists.

Washington State cruised to a two-set lead in Saturday's win over Tulsa, winning 85 percent (29-of-34) of sideout points in the first and second sets combined with only two attack errors as a team. Following a 25-18 first set with only two early lead changes, Washington State led wire to wire in a 25-15 second-set win before running trouble to start the third.

After a slow start to the third frame, Washington State took off on a an 11-2 run to turn a six-point deficit into a three point lead at 13-10. Isanovic had her best set of the night, racking up five kills on seven attacks without any errors (.714). Isanovic finished the weekend with a team leading 3.80 kills/set at a .427 clip, 3.20 digs/set, as well as five aces.

Libero Karly Basham began her final season in Bohler with a bang, averaging 4.10 digs/set and three aces in the 3-0 weekend for the Cougs, while defensive specialist Julia Norville also added 2.22 digs/set and two aces over the weekend.

Washington State will be back in Bohler Gym next week for another home tournament beginning with UC Irvine on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. WSU will turn around and play Towson on Thursday night at 8 p.m., before finishing its six-match home stand with ninth-ranked BYU on Friday night at 7 p.m. PST.
