AUSTIN, Texas —True freshman
Louie Hinchliffe finished 20th overall in the men's 100-meter dash as he closed out his stellar rookie campaign Wednesday representing Washington State on the opening night of the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships from Mike A. Meyers Stadium. Hinchliffe finished seventh in the first of three 100m heats, clocking a semifinals time of 10.19 Wednesday night to round out his strong freshman season.
Hinchliffe, the lone freshman qualifier at this year's NCAA Championships, tied the Washington State program record with a 10.17 at last month's NCAA West Preliminary Round to qualify for this week's championships.
The native of Sheffield, England, won the 100-meter dash at last summer's England Senior Athletics Championships while placing fifth in the 200-meter dash. In his first indoor season at Washington State, he narrowly missed a spot at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a program record 6.60 in the 60m dash.
