SPOKANE, Wash. —
Washington State men's and women's track and field teams tallied six wins and 15 top-three finishes Friday at the Whitworth Peace Meet. On cloudy afternoon with on-and-off showers at the Whitworth Pine Bowl, the Cougars hit seven PRs and 11 total season-best times and marks in the second outdoor meet of the season from Spokane.
Throws Recap
Washington State's throws groups finished one-two in three separate events on the afternoon beginning with Ronald Grueso-Mosquera (50.78m) and
Max Moore (50.53m) who launched massive throws in the men's discus to take first and second place, respectively. The women's hammer squad also took the top two spots on the afternoon after
Tara Koonce muscled a personal best throw of 55.04m on her first trip into the hammer cage cage while teammate
Amy Kraemer took second place after a mark of 52.31m on her first throw.
Laura Lindquist upped her previous PR in the women's javelin twice, first throwing a 42.58 in her first throw before earning the top spot in the event with a 44.75m on her second throw of finals. Her teammate Maeyln George slung a season-best throw of 41.85m to snag the runner-up spot (41.85m).
Audrey Hughes took second in the women's discus with a final mark of 44.76m and
Nana Gyedu finished top-three in the women's shot with a mark of 13.79m to place third.
Jumps Recap
With the rain impacting the jumps runways,
Anna Rodgers (5.62m, 1st-place) and
Gilana Wollman (5.39m, 2nd-place) still claimed the top two spots in the women's long jump.
Daylon Hicks cleared 2.02m to take home the runner-up spot in the men's high jump while teammate
Taino Ferdinand finished in fourth after clearning 1.92m on his first jump of the afternoon.
Kolby Weiss used only one vault to clear 3.76m in the women's pole vault which was enough to also snag a second-place finish on the afternoon.

Jacob Lawrence led the men's 1500m pack from start to finish as he claimed first in a personal-best time of 3:54.33. His teammate
Jacob Easton finished just behind in the opening heat at 3:56.31 to place fourth while
Alec Barran (4:01.89, 14th) and
Cooper Cortinas (4:06.03, 18th) each hit PR's in the following heat.
Bode Brewer finished first in the men's 100m at while
Yanai Macon took fourth in 10.94.
NEXT UP: Washington State men's and women's track and field will head back on the road next weekend as the teams will divide to compete at the Mt SAC Relays (Apr. 12-15) in Walnut, Calif., the Bryan Clay Invitational (Apr. 13-15) in Azusa, Calif., and the Whitworth Twilight (Apr. 13) back in Spokane, Wash.
