Greg Fuchs hit a go-ahead home run as Washington State evened the series at No. 15 Oregon State with a 6-3 victory Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars (12-2, 1-1 Pac-12) collected nine hits to back Kaelber who allowed just two runs in the second inning and matched a career high with eight strikeouts over seven frames to earn the win. Relievers

Chase Grillo sealed things up as Grillo picked up his fourth save with a scoreless ninth.

Jonah Advincula tallied three hits, stole a base and scored twice,
Sam Brown drove in two runs and Fuchs, a transfer from Oregon State, clubbed a towering two-run fourth-inning home run for the Cougars who go into Sunday looking for their first series win in Corvallis since 2009.

Oregon State dropped to 11-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

Cam Magee followed with a single into left-centerfield, Brown worked a walk and
Jacob Morrow later delivered a run-scoring sacrifice fly to centerfield for a 1-0 lead. An inning later, OSU used a two-out two-run double just inside the left field foul line to take a 2-1 advantage.

The Cougars evened things up in the third inning as Brown doubled off the right-centerfield wall to score McKeon. An inning later,
Elijah Hainline was hit by a pitch and Fuchs launched a 1-0 pitch over the stands in right field for a two-run shot and a 4-2 WSU lead.

Kaelber settled in and kept the Beavers off balance throughout afternoon, working through a career-high seven innings. WSU picked up a couple insurance runs in the eighth, loading the bases before
Jacob McKeon was hit by a pitch to bring in a run and Brown followed with a run-scoring sacrifice fly to centerfield for a four-run lead.

OSU added a run with a two-out RBI-single through the right side to make it a three-run game but reliever
Andrew Baughn ended the threat after snagging a one-hop comebacker and tossing to first for the third out. Grillo worked around a leadoff walk but retired the next three batters including the final two on strikeouts for the save.
