Timmer leads the way offensively as Cougs capture third-straight road win in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — Pia Timmer had a team-high 16 kills and 14 digs as 11th-ranked Washington State (22-7, 12-6 Pac-12) swept Utah, (10-18, 5-13), 3-0 (28-26, 25-15, 25-22), to capture its third-consecutive road win Sunday at the Jon M Huntsman Center. Washington State had three players reach double digit kills on the afternoon as Iman Isanovic added 11 kills with six digs, and Lana Radakovic posted a season-best 10 kills with zero errors (10-0-14,.714).
Karly Basham reached double digit digs for the 22nd time this season, finishing with a dozen on the afternoon, while Julia Norville added nine digs along with one of the Cougars' four aces. Magda Jehlárová tallied a team-leading four blocks on the day, and Argentina Ung dished out another 42 assists. Coming off of a 3-0 win at Colorado on Friday night, the Cougars closed out the weekend without dropping a single set as they fought off a late deficit in Sunday's first to win on extra points, 28-26, and finished with a .277-.167 edge in hitting percentage for the match as a team over the Utes.
Timmer finished the opening set with a team-leading six digs, and was crucial down the stretch as WSU went on a 3-0 run to steal a 24-23 lead and force a Utah timeout. Timmer would go on to seal things with her fifth kill of the opening set.
Agrentina Ung served the Cougars into a five-point lead with a pair of aces during a 5-0 WSU run to jump in front, 9-4, in set two. Timmer quickly added another ace as a part of a 3-0 run in the following Cougar rotation, and Washington State went on to hit .389 as a team (16-2-36) in a speedy 25-15 second-set win.
Timmer tallied six kills both the second and third sets as Washington State continued its momentum on offense into the third. Utah fought off a pair of match points late, eventually finishing with a match-high .282 hitting percentage in the third, but Timmer closed out the match with a 17th kill the her final match of her career at the Huntsman Center.

Washington State will face a quick turnaround as it gets set to host its home finale on Wednesday, Nov. 22, against Arizona State, beginning at noon on Pac-12 Network. The Cougars will then travel to Seattle for their Pac-12 finale against Apple Cup rival Washington on Friday, Nov. 24, beginning at 7 p.m., on Pac-12 Washington.
