Volleyball set to host eighth-ranked Stanford Friday in Bohler

Washington State's last win over the Cardinal was a five-setter in Bohler Gym where it is a perfect 7-0 this season.

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Looking for its first top-10 win of the season, Washington State volleyball (15-6, 7-3 Pac-12) will hope to gain some footing in the NCAA postseason picture as it hosts eighth-ranked Stanford (14-4, 9-1) Friday night in Bohler Gym.   Friday's match, the second matchup of the season between the two teams, will be televised live on Pac-12 Network with first serve slated for 7:04 p.m.

The Cardinal are riding an eight-match winning streak heading into Friday's matchup while Washington State looks to defend a 12-match home winning streak in Bohler Gym after a successful 2-0 weekend over the Arizona schools last week.

>> Laura Jansen is eighth in the Pac-12 with 3.53 kill/set and is averaging 3.78 kill/set in the Cougars' seven home matches so far this season.
>> Magda Jehlarova is top-10 in all major career blocking categories and surpassed the 500 career total blocks mark earlier this season at Stanford (10/2) and moved into third all-time with 99 career solo blocks in Sunday's sweep over Arizona State.
>> Jehlarova was named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after putting up 1.50 blocks/set and 1.88 kills/set against the Arizona schools last week.  She currently sits at No. 19 in the nation with 1.39 blocks/set this season and is 19th in the NCAA and first in the Pac-12 with 107 total blocks on the year.
>> Pia Timmer is 12th all-time at WSU in career kills (1,096) and is quickly closing in on the top-10.  Timmer's 3.20 career kills/set is tied for 10th-most among active players in the Pac-12 and is sixth-best all-time at Washington State.
>> Karly Basham had 23 digs in last Friday's five-set win over Arizona.  She currently  leads the Cougars with 28 aces on the season and is seventh in the Pac-12 with .36 aces/set.
>> If the season ended today, the Cougars' .268 hitting percentage would rank as the third-highest in WSU volleyball history and their 1.73 aces/set would rank as the fifth-best.
>> The Cougs are third in the Pac-12 with 1.73 aces/set and are averaging 1.81 aces/set in their seven home matches so far this season.
>> WSU is No. 24 in the nation at .268 hitting as a team and are second in the Pac with 133 aces on the season.
>> Washington State is seeking its first win against Stanford since a five-set win in Pullman back in 2016.
>> The Cougs pushed Stanford to five sets in Bohler Gym last season before falling in the fifth.  Stanford has since followed up with back-to-back home wins in the all-time series.

The Cougars will cap off their four-match home stand on Sunday as they host Cal (7-13, 0-10 Pac-12) beginning at 12 p.m.  Washington State will make its Oregon trip next weekend beginning with Oregon State on Friday, Nov. 4, at 6 p.m., followed by Oregon on Sunday, Nov. 6, beginning at 12 p.m.
