PULLMAN, Wash. – On Wednesday (April 29), Washington State women's golf head coach Kelli Kamimura announced the signing of Jessie Lin from College of the Canyons (Calif.). The junior college transfer will be eligible to compete for the Cougars in the upcoming 2020-21 season.
Lin comes to the Palouse after a stellar two-year run at College of the Canyons in Santa Clara, California. During her time with COC, Lin was named to the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) All-State team and posted a second-place finish at the 2019 CCCAA State Championship. Lin's two-day score of 144 put her in a tie for first, but after a card-off the state title was eventually yielded to one of her COC teammates.
"We are so excited to have Jessie coming to WSU next season," said coach Kamimura. "We have followed Jessie's progress in junior golf, as well as her career at College of the Canyons. She is a hard worker with a great personality and will be a great addition to the team."
Born in Burnaby, British Columbia, Lin was raised in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. She was a two-time All-Western State College (WSC) selection for College of the Canyons. She was also a medalist at two conference events this past season and as a freshman won the 2018 CCCAA SoCal Regional Championship.
Lin guided COC to back-to-back CCCAA State Championships in 2018 and 2019. College of the Canyons' back-to-back state titles with Lin marked the first time in the 50-year history of the CCCAA that an athletic program won two-consecutive CCCAA State Championships. She was also helped the Lady Cougars win an unprecedented 25-straight tournaments during her two-year tenure in Santa Clara.
