> Washington State enters conference play 7-1-0 after winning a pair of games in Hawaii last weekend.
> Sunday afternoon the Cougs dispatched Pepperdine, 2-1, with goals from
Elyse Bennett and
Molly Myers to win the Rainbow Wahine Shootout.
> The Cougs are 10-11-3 in Pac-12 openers after defeating #8 UCLA, 1-0, on the road last season.
> WSU opens up Pac-12 play against Oregon State, the only perfect team in the Pac-12 at 8-0-0. The Cougs have won 3 of the last 4 against the Beavers including the past two in Pullman.

Ella Dederick tied the all-time record for wins at 44 (held by Gurveen Clair (2011-14)) Â with her victory against Pepperdine. She has recorded 3.5 shutouts on the year with just 5 goals against.

Morgan Weaver leading the way with five goals. Six different Cougs have scored game-winners.
> WSU is ranked #11 in the nation in scoring of offense at 2.88 goals per game (23 total).

Morgan Weaver, named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List to start the year, is tied for third all-time in program history in scoring with 33 goals and fifth in points with 74.

Brianna Alger is 12th in the nation in assists per game at 0.75 (6 total) and tied for #1 in the Pac-12. WSU is #4 overall in assists per contest at 3.00 (24 total).
> Alger earned her second Pac-12 DPOW award after picking up a pair of game-winning assists while the Cougs gave up just one goal over the weekend in Hawaii.
LAST TIME OUT
The Cougars finished the Rainbow Wahine Shootout a perfect 2-0 with wins over Hawai'i (1-0) and Pepperdine (2-1). Sunday, the Cougs did what the rest of the Pac-12 had failed to do, down a pesky Pepperdine squad using a pair of second half strikes to grab the win.
Elyse Bennett got the scoring started before
Molly Myers finished the Waves' off late. As they have done all season, the Cougs dominated the Waves on the offensive end, outshooting Pepperdine 17-7 and 8-2 on goal.
ALGER TOP DEFENDER, AGAIN
For the second time this season, junior
Brianna Alger was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. Alger also took home the opening award of the season on Aug. 27. In the last two seasons the Cougars have earned six defensive awards with four weekly honors last season to go with Algers' two this year. Over the weekend, she assisted on both game-winning goals while leading the way to just one goal against and a shutout over Hawai'i.
COUGS IN CONFERENCE OPENERS
With the Pac-12 schedule beginning the Cougs are looking to make it a winning streak in conference openers after downing #8 UCLA, 1-0, last year on the road. The win at UCLA was WSU's third-straight win over the Bruins.
All-time the Cougs are 10-11-3 in conference openers and 4-2-2 since the conference became the Pac-12. In the first home contest of conference the Cougs are 9-13-2 all-time.
