Five Earn Pac-12 All-Academic Honors, Block Named First Team

SAN FRANCISCO – Five Washington State baseball players received Pac-12 Conference All-Academic accolades led by A.J. Block who was named to the first team, the conference office announced Thursday.
 
Block was named to the first team for the second consecutive season, pitcher Hayden Rosenkrantz and infielder Jack Smith were both named to the second team while outfielder Danny Sinatro and catcher Rob Teel both received honorable mention.
 
Block, a junior, owns a 3.66 cumulative GPA while majoring in computer science and is the first Cougar to earn first-team honors in consecutive seasons since Collin Slaybaugh (2012-14) did so in three straight seasons. This past season, Block led the Cougars with 71.1 innings and 68 strikeouts while making 14 starts.
 
Rosenkrantz, a sophomore who owns a 3.48 cumulative GPA while majoring in marketing earns his first career all-academic honor. Rosenkrantz made 14 appearances on the mound including eight as a starter, recorded 41 strikeouts in 55.2 inning and notched a pair of victories at Nevada and against CSUN.
 
Smith, a sophomore who owns a 3.62 cumulative GPA while majoring in finance earns his first career all-academic honor. Smith appeared in 29 games including 16 as a starter at designated hitter, first base and second base. The Mercer Island, Wash. native hit .279 with five doubles and seven RBI, notching five multiple-hit games along the way.
 
Sinatro, a junior who owns a 3.20 cumulative GPA while majoring in marketing earns honorable mention for the second straight season. Sinatro started in all 52 games he appeared in and led the Cougars with a .325 batting average including a .351 mark in Pac-12 play. The Sammamish, Wash. native also recorded five doubles, five triples, five stolen bases, 16 RBI and finished the season with a 12-game hitting streak.
 
Teel, a senior who earned his bachelor's degree in social sciences earlier this month with a 3.04 cumulative GPA, earns his first career all-academic honor. Teel appeared in 40 games including 33 as a starter and recorded four doubles, 18 RBI and six multiple-hit games.
